Gebrek aan wind

WE ARE GETTING CLOSER TO LAND -

Ships around us! It’s noticeable that we are getting closer to land, there are 10 AIS targets around us. Usually when we are underway on the ocean we rarely see other ships, well sometimes a lonely freighter passes by us too far away to see, but we see the AIS signal. Now it’s really busy!

The wind has been letting us down the last few days, it’s kind of annoying. Sometimes we are able to set a sail, to get a little more speed out of the Swan, but most of the times the sails will flap useless and we will take them away.

Right now we’s cruising though a ridge of high pressure, there is next to no wind. On our west there would be some favourable winds, but we are not able to reach them before they will die out. On our east we have NE winds, which are against us, and will only set us back if we would cruise straight towards the channel. So the battle plan is now to head North towards Ireland, and from there we’ll have to wait and see what happens. The wind supposedly will increase from the east. Which is not in our favour, but we will have to deal with that when we get there. Going up the channel with the increasing easterlies will not be an option. So we hope for a weather change.
Atmosphere on board is really good, although we all feel like being able to sail again.

PIWS out….
