Richting Ierland

ARE WE BRINGING TAYLOR HOME?

Time: 0430 UTC
Position: 48 44N 15 16W
Speed: 6,5
COG: 045

The Swan is with sails again, but still with an extra push with the caterpillar. But it feels good! The swell from the west has decreased, making life on board a little better, not all items that are not attached to the ship are moving.

You can drink coffee without worrying that any moment the coffee cup makes a move towards the edge of the table.

We are wondering why we are so unlucky with the wind, what have we done wrong in order to get the windgods against us. It will eventually change, that is for sure!

300 years ago, there was no schedule, and nobody knew what time the ships would be back from their voyage, no email, no radio. Only somebody in a lighthouse who would spot the ships, or other ships bringing messages home. I’m curious how those days where..

Maybe we will even have a short stopover in Ireland. Just to wait for the wind to change. Well, we’ll have to wait and see. Ireland is 270 miles away from us. Our Engineer Taylor (left on the picture) who’s Irish wouldn’t mind!
When you would have asked me what the most probable stopover harbour would be I would have never guessed that it would be in Ireland. "But this is all subject to change" (this sentence was used in multiple occasions during the voyage. And I guess it’s not the last time it will be used.)

PIWS out

Jeroen Peters - Captain
