Ocean Cleanup

Tijdens deze reis zijn er op de Wylde Swan ook jongens aan boord van het project The Ocean Cleanup, opgericht door de Nederlandse student Boyan Slat, die met zijn uitvinding vorig jaar wereldwijd in het nieuws was.

THE WYLDE SWAN EXPEDITION COMPLETED

This week, our fourth expedition reached the Azores after a month of sailing the North Atlantic Ocean, successfully taking more measurements on the vertical distribution of plastic pollution.

The Ocean Cleanup

Last month we had a Sample Team of The Ocean Cleanup on board from St. Martin untill the Azores. 

"It amazes me how much plastic is floating in the crystal clear sea, the particles are so small that you don’t see them when the float around you, but the filters that are in the trawl do not let these particles escape. I realise how big problem this is now. And we are very happy that we can take part in this research."
