Er wordt weer gezeild

SAILING AGAIN - 0430Z / POS:49 30N 009 41W / SPD: 6,5 / HDG: 010 / COG: 000

And, we’re sailing again, what a relief! Unfortunately “Barry” is still in the process of healing, and tomorrow he’ll be ready to shine on the main mast again. (For the listeners who switched on later, Barry is a sail with a personality). The forecast is exactly right and we are heading towards the south coast of Ireland. Where we will probably await the strong easterly winds, while we are hiding in  a sheltered bay. Let’s hope the view is good, because we probably have no means of going off the ship, or get too near to land.
Yesterday we had the most flat seas that I have seen in years, the water was like oil, very pretty, although not very good for the speed towards our goal.
Shipstakeover is still going strong, and the crew have been “relieved” from their tasks (well they are still there off course!). Trainees set the sails, take decisions and give the commands. The galley is manned by a trainee that wears a cook hat most of the time, just to make clear who the chef is. He does a pretty good job though!
I hope the forecast for the next few days is not too far off, and that we will actually be able to head towards the Channel on Sunday evening or Monday morning. There seems to be a nice “small hole in the weather system” where we could make a move towards the east again. We all kindly ask you to ask nicely to the weathergods!
PIWS out…..
